Successful Saturday’s…

Hope everyone had a good week and stayed on track with their diets and meal plans. I stuck to my juicing diet and have kept myself accountable by posting daily pictures on my Instagram account. I have had a lot of people ask me what vegetables and fruits I use, as well as what else I eat along with the juices or if I am strictly drinking juices all day everyday.

WELL, here are the answers to your questions:

  1. I put whatever I have in the fridge/on my counters into my juices (only fruits and veggies though). I have been putting in spinach, pineapple, green apples, lemons, oranges, cantaloupe, carrots, beets, celery, cucumber and watermelon. I will be incorporating other fruits and vegetables like kale, mint, celery root, limes, plums, grapefruits, avocados and etc… So, stay tuned!
  2. I have been eating FULL meals each day while juicing. Each morning I will juice my fruits and vegetables and add 13 grams of chia seeds and stir it up. I will usually pair that with a protein such as eggs or toast (rye bread or ezekiel bread) with all-natural peanut butter. My lunches are filled with proteins and a carbohydrate like quinoa/brown rice along with a Greek yogurt and more fruits/vegetables. Dinner looks pretty similar, but I don’t always include quinoa or brown rice and just stick to proteins and vegetables.
  3. I have cut out MOST processed foods from my diet this past week. There is ONLY so much that is in my control and there are the occasional temptations at work (ie: a co-worker (you know who you are) brought these lovely cupcakes from a local bakery to work one day and I may have dabbled into the icing of one of the cupcakes… BUT that is all I ate, I swear. I am human after all.)

So after a week of “clean-eating” I am happy to report that I was 1.9 lbs down from my last weigh-in at Weight Watchers this morning. I have shed most of the summer weight I gained.

I have also noticed that my skin is less dry (I have eczema) and I have noticed that my nails are less brittle. I know that it has only been one week, so I will keep an eye on both things and see if there are any other changes over the next month.

When juicing you don’t always get all the vitamins and nutrients that you want from the fruits and veggies because they are in the skins/peels. I will start baking with the leftovers from the juicer and make “healthy” muffins/cakes. Stay tuned for that as well!

I am NO expert on juicing and I am not a dietician/nutritionist so if you are contemplating a similar diet, please do your own research or consult with your physician to see if this would be of benefit to you. Each person is different and what works for one person, may not work for the next.

Go enjoy your Saturday evening people!

It’s a beautiful day here in St. John’s and I’m going to enjoy it with my hubby-to-be! Yesterday was our 4 year anniversary and we are going to celebrate it this evening by going out for dinner and a movie.

This next song is dedicated to my Davey boy!
